At the beginning of the year I made a proclamation to myself that 2013 was going to be my year. I had a game plan and a handful of projects to keep me busy. Fast forward twelve months and I'm finally ready to release some comics. I'm happy with what's coming out but it's a long way from 2013 being my year.
So here's the problem and my advice to fellow creators, if you're having trouble getting product out stop working on multiple projects at a time. I'm convinced I would have been able to release more comics this year if I concentrated on one at a time. I lost so much time and creative focus switching between four different projects this year.
In a way 2013 was my year. It was a year focused very intently on comics and through all that work I came to realize that my approach to making comics was fundamentally wrong. Live, learn and make comics. 2014 is going to be great.
